  • I am trying to run a site crawl for my website and MOZ is only resulting in 1 page crawled with the home page URL Status Code of 301. However when I run it in httpstatus.io it is giving me a 403 status error. Im curious as to why MOZ is saying its a 301 and httpstatus.io is saying 403.    Is there anything I can do in MOZ first to get the site crawled before asking my developers to look into the 403 error?

  • When I analyze the site through Moz tool and compare the results with google webmaster, I am not able to figure what why Moz does not report the slow pages. Fro example this page has an avrage LCP of 3.0 sec https://www.collegehippo.com/graduate-school/programs/gre-score-business-analytics-data-analytics When I see the report in moz, it does not point to any such issue. Should I be worried about what google reports and try to fix the page?

  • Hi there, I would like to download the current keyword rankings within a campaign without the historical data i.e. I need only ONE row for each keyword. I read an earlier post that suggested setting the data parameters within the last update period but I can't do this on my MOZ interface - whatever I set the dates to, I still get multiple rows for each keyword. I guess there must be a way to do what I need but I can't see it!  Please advise. Many thanks

  • I've used the Moz bar for many years to quickly figure out if a link is followed or no-followed. I recently used a Wordpress plugin to build lists of subjects and excerpts of pages with appropriate links. An example is at https://www.chicagotraveler.com/chicago-parks/ This is the main Parks section page. Below the map is a set of links and descriptions of each park in this section of the site. The problem is that when I use the Moz bar to look at this page, the links are not highlighted no matter which settings I click on. Followed, No-followed, External or Internal. I've looked at the code and while there is a bit of css nearby the links, they look fairly normal. Does this mean that moz thinks there is something wrong. Do you think google will also ignore these links? Should I scrap the plugin and build and maintain these lists manually?

  • Howdy gang, This is my last discussion post in the series on keyword metrics in KW Explorer & Moz Pro (previously on Keyword Difficulty, Opportunity, & Volume). In this one, let's chat about the "Priority Score," a feature you'll find in Keyword Explorer on any lists you build. Priority was conceived to help aggregate all the other metrics - Difficulty, Opportunity, Volume, and (if you choose to use it) Importance. We wanted to create an easy way to sort keywords so the cream would rise to the top -- cream in this case being keywords with low difficulty, high opportunity, strong volume, and high importance (again, if you choose to use it). Thus, when it comes to Priority Score, there's no particular number you should necessarily seek out, but higher is better. When you get into the ranges of 80+ (which is quite rare, Single Malt Scotch is one of the few examples I could find, and only because it's volume is so high and there's only a couple SERP features), you're generally talking about keywords with high demand (lots of monthly searches), the difficulty isn't too crazy (a website in the 55-80 DA range might have a shot), and the CTR Opportunity is decently strong (usually not too many SERP features that take clicks and attention away from the organic web results). Below that score range, you're usually finding keywords where one or more of those isn't true -- there's either lower volume, heavier competition, or lots of SERP features with the accompanying lower estimated CTR. When you're building KW lists, my view is that there's no "good" or "bad" Priority scores, only relative scores. Priority should be used to help you determine which terms and phrases to target first -- it's like a cheat code to unlock the low hanging fruit. If you build large lists of 50-100 or more keywords, Priority is a powerful and easy way to sort. It becomes even more useful if you use the Importance score to help add an estimation of value to you/your business/your client in to the mix. In that case, Importance can cut Priority by up to 2/3rds (if you set it at 1) or raise it by a little more than 3X (if you set it at 10). This is hyper-useful to nudge keywords with middling scores up if they're super-important to your marketing efforts. Look forward to your feedback, and thanks for checking these out!

  • Hi all, Trying to figure out what is going on with the keyword explorer. All searches are made in the EN-US region. Example keyword: app localization
Moz shows me that volume is 0-10, which is Wrong. Actual volumes are in thousands per month. Another keyword - translation service
Moz shows the volume as 2480 when actual volumes are in tens of thousands. I can give many more examples like this - what is going on? NZGzX2p.png vzIwMoe.png

  • Dear expert,
I hope that you all are fine 🙂
Today, I am very confused about improving DA of my client website. For example: He has a domain www.abc.com
and he wants me to build a backlinks on different internal pages like
    www.abc.com/service-1
    www.abc.com/service-2
www.abc.com/service-3 If i build high quality links on internal pages (service pages) rather than building links on main domain (home page). Does the Domain Authority will increase
    OR
I have to build links on Main page to boost the DA I am hoping a positive reply from your side Thanks

  • After exporting Top pages list in Moz Pro, I noticed lots of pages with high PA (page authority) are actually random images (.png & .jpg) and documents (.pdf). Question 1: Should I make a redirect 301 from an image/document to the actual webpage? If not, what should I do to keep the ranking, but point the URL to the correct place? In addition, lots of highly ranking URLs are actually outdated. They are coming from the old website. I switched to the new one more than a year ago. Question 2: If I create a 301 redirect from the old URL to the new one, will I keep the high ranking? Thanks,
    Anja

  • why do i get a difficulty and CTR score in keyword explorer when there is no min or max monthly volume on a search term?

    | eezysee

  • Hi in the rankings for my keywords, the monthly range is so much lower than other keyword tools I use, including google keyword planner, semrush and longtail pro (which all match and show a number much higher than Moz). Support said it's because those tools may group like keywords or singular/plural versions where Moz truly separates each term as a separate term, hence more specific and precise. My question is: If google does somewhat group plural/singular and close match keywords, then wouldn’t it not matter anyways - if someone types a close match keyword and my keyword ends up triggering/displaying as if they typed my targeted keyword - then wouldn’t it still fall under the larger number if in the end it works in displaying my website as a result? If google changes search "blue sky" to "sky that is blue", and you get the same ranking for either of those two keywords then in the end does it matter? I'm thrown for a loop as I spent time optimizing my website based on numbers I received from the other tools and now seeing a much lower number for said keywords and possibly a little higher for a different variation of it,  I don't know what to do.

  • Hello.
When I try to use 'On Page Grader' on specific site, I get an error message. "
    Page Optimization Error
There was a problem loading this page. Please make sure the page is loading properly and that our user-agent, rogerbot, is not blocked from accessing this page.
    "
example : https://www.csgosmurfkart.com Site's robots.txt settings are good. and I think there's no blocking factor. But On Page Grader cannot crawl the sites.
But campaign crawler is working well on the site. only On Page Grader is not working.. What should I change my server's setting or site's setting for crawling site on my site?

  • On the last crawl, we received errors for duplicate page titles and some duplicate content pages. Here is the issue: We went through our page titles that were marked as duplicate and changed them to make sure their titles were different. However, we just received a new crawl this week and it is saying there are even more duplicate page title errors detected than before. We're wondering if this is a problem with just us or if it has been happening to other Moz users. As for the duplicate content pages, what is the best way to approach this and see what content is being looked at as a "duplicate" set?

  • Hello the I am trying to use On-page Grader tool on https://www.brownandkings.co.uk/ but is not allowing me to get any grade. I thought might be an issue on my hosting provider, but they said all configuration is perfect... I also went to use  https://technicalseo.com/tools/robots-txt/ to test the robots and the configuration and test came perfect for the webpage. I search on Google, and all the FAQ here in Moz but no answer, how to solve this issue... so that is the reason for this question. "On-page Grader tool" some of the campaign I list here work but some don't 😞 how can I make work Looking for hearing from you!

  • sleepcountry.ca uses Oracle Commerce Cloud which uses Knockout data-binds syntax to attach events to DOM elements like this (A <a id="s0207useresourcesinwidgets01"></a>Knockout custom binding named ‘widgetLocaleText’  - I am not familiar this technology stack): Same applies to H1 tag - you can't find H1 tag in Source. In short, the text binding causes the associated DOM element to display the text value of your parameter. Data binding is applied to all DOM elements on pages of sleepcountry.ca  even that this technique doesn't pass W3C markup validation: Error: Element title must not be empty. MOZ reports that all H1 Tags are missing on ALL PAGES of the site. Same is reported by Semrush and other respected services. However, it seems like Google automatically adds tagging to all data-bind(ed) elements including Title! site:sleepcountry.ca I'm no expert in Oracle Commerce Cloud or Knockout, but I'm confused.
QUESTION: Does this data-bind hurt organic search and if it does, why Google still sees all TITLES while Moz and other services report it as a major problem - titles are missing. ? Thank you so much in advance! (I'm not an SEO expert but this problem might be related to my project)

  • We have a page on our website with a higher than average number of pageviews, 85% of which came from Google organic search. When I research this page by entering the URL into the "exact page" keyword research tool, Moz says it has no ranking keywords. How can a page be earning organic traffic without ranking for any keywords?

  • Hello, Can you explain me how you use keyword explorer for SEO because I watched many video  and after watching them everything is a little confusing... From my understanding, you have you main keyword let's say "Normandy bike tours". Based on that keyword you decide to cover TOPICS. Let's say I decide to cover D-Day landings, Omaha beach and and Caen on my page about" Normandy bike tours" ( I could cover more or others I imagine but now let's say those TOPICS are the ones I have decided to cover. From that point on what I understand is that I need to cover each of those TOPICS and the way to cover each of them is to type each of those words separately in the keyword explorer and look for words that the keyword explorer gives mes that it considers to be "semantically related" to each of those TOPICS. Then, if I choose the corrects one google will understand the different TOPIC and that should boost my ranking. Is it the whole idea ? PS : How many do you look at to find semantically related words ? 10, 20 or more ? Thank you,

  • I'm wondering if I can use Keyword Explorer (or maybe another tool?) to target keywords for image rankings. I'd like to play around with optimizing images so that they appear in search results and thus provide traffic - but wasn't sure the best way to track that kind of progress. My ultimate goal is to analyze the difficulty of ranking for a certain keyword via Google images. (I do know to optimize alt tag/title tag/place in relevant article etc, but wanted to know if I could research the difficulty). Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

  • Hi Folks! You might have seen my discussion on What Is a Good Keyword Difficulty Score, and this is a continuation of the same vein. Keyword Organic CTR is probably my favorite score we developed in Keyword Explorer and Moz Pro. It looks at the SERP features that appear in a set of results (e.g. an image block, AdWords ads, a featured snippet, or knowledge graph) and then calculates, using CTRs we built off our partnership with Jumpshot's clickstream data, what percent of searchers are likely to click on the organic, web results. For example, in a search query like Nuoc Cham Ingredients, you've got a featured snippet and then a "People Also Ask" feature above the web results, and thus, Keyword Explorer is giving me an Organic CTR Score of 64. This translates directly to an estimated 64% click-through rate to the web results. Compare that to a search query like Fabric Printed Off Grain, where there's a single SERP feature - just the "People Also Ask" box, and it's between the 6th and 7th result. In this case, Keyword Explorer shows an Organic CTR Score of 94, because we estimate that those PAAs are only taking 6% of the available clicks. There are two smart ways you should be using Organic CTR Score: As a way to modify the estimated volume and estimated value of ranking in the web results for a given keyword term/phrase (KW Explorer does this for you if you use the "Lists" and sort based on Potential, which factors in all the other scores, including volume, difficulty, and organic CTR) As a way to identify SEO opportunities outside the normal, organic web results in other SERP features (e.g. in the Nuoc Cham Ingredients SERPs, there's serious opportunity to take over that featured snippet and get some great traffic) OK, so all that said, what's actually a "good" Organic CTR score? Well... If you're doing classic, 10-blue-links style SEO only, 100 is what you want. But, if you're optimizing for SERP features, and you appear in a featured snippet or the image block or top stories or any of those others, you'd probably be very happy to find that CTR was going to those non-web-results sections, and scores in the 40s or 50s would be great (so long as you appear in the right features).

  • Hello, I'm looking at some Google Analytics data for a website and can see a few 'Page not found's among the Page Titles, looking like these are 404 errors. To get a full list of what's 404-ing so I can get these redirected, the Moz on-demand crawl of the website has come back with no major errors and just a few metadata ones. Does anyone know any potential reasons why the audit has drawn a blank, and is there another way to get a comprehensive list of 404s, as I'm aware the Google Analytics data may not be covering all of them. Thanks very much Becky

  • Hi, I found a similar thread, but it did not provide a clear-cut answer. We have had this campaign running for over a year, and we are always adding content to the website, but Moz is only ever able to crawl 2 pages, Screaming Frog only picks up 12, but I know there is a lot more than that. None of our pages are set to no-index, so I do not know what is causing this. Welcoming any ideas/solutions. Thanks

  • Hello, In the keyword explorer when I group keywords by lexical similarity should I only choose keywords that have a high relevancy to my seed keyword (the one I typed and want to rank on ? Let me give you an example. Let's say my seed keyword (the one I want to rank on) is "Alsace bike tours. With the keyword explorer I group the keywords and find the group " cycling in Alsace" (ok I take that one because it relevant to "Alsace bike tours" then I find "Strasbourg to Colmar by bike" I also take this one because it is also relevant to "alsace bike tours" but what about concepts like "Alsace wine region", Alsatian architecture, wines of Alsace, cuisine of Alsace or prettiest villages in Alsace... should I totally dismiss those from my content because they aren't relevant to my keyword "Alsace bike tours" or is it ok to use them but it won't help me at all ? • Hello! One of our competitors (Company A) that we've tracked in Moz for a long time recently merged with another company (Company B) and redirected their whole site to Company B's site. Will our competitor tracking still work as-is? Or do we need to make an adjustment? I'm reluctant to delete Company A from our competitor tracking, because we will lose all of that data. But if all of the keywords are slowly going to drop off as Google starts showing Company B results only, it may be the only option. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

  • Hello everyone, I'm hoping someone can help me suss out what I'm missing here. There are two issues that have me pretty confused. #1: Ubersuggest is correctly indicated a ranking for this web page while it's not mentioned anywhere in Moz as a ranking keyword. #2: The page is ranking at #5 on page 1 for this search term and beating out the likes of rollingstone.com and other 90+ DA and 50+ PA results while only having a PA 15 and DA 22. My concern here is that I'm missing out on other rankings that might actually be attainable.

  • Howdy folks, I'm using advanced search operators to generate lists of long tail queries related to my niche and I'd like to take the batch of URLs I've gathered and upload them in a batch so I can see what the PA is for each URL. This would help me determine which long tail query is receiving the most love and links and help inform my content strategy moving forward. But I can't seem to find a way to do this. I went to check out the Moz API but it's a little confusing. It says there's a free version, but then it looks like it's actually not free, then I try to use it and it says I've gone over my limit even though I haven't used it yet. Anyone that can help me with this, I'd really appreciate it. If you're familiar with SEMRush, they have a batch analysis tool that works well, but I ideally want to upload these URLs to Moz because it's better for this kind of research. Thanks!
