    link explorer crawl backlinks external links

    I have a site with 48 linking domains and 200 total links showing in Google Search Console. These are legit and good quality links. Since creating a campaign 2 months ago, Moz link explorer for the same site only shows me 2 linking domains and 3 total links. I realise Moz cannot crawl with the same speed and depth as Google but this is poor performance for a premium product and doesn't remotely reflect the link profile of the domain. Is there a way to submit a sitemap or list of links to Moz for the purpose of crawling and adding to Link Explorer?

    When looking at the backlinks for a client's competitor I found that they had a backlink on search.yahoo.com/reviews and our domain (harmonyhit.com) did not. I was using the Link Explorer tool. However, when I go to yahoo Search I see that the website of harmonyhit.com is indexed in Yahoo search and has links to the site. Also, it's sitemap has been recently crawled in Bing webmaster tools which Yahoo uses. Why does our client have the backlink accounted for and we do not?

    We had a site redesign launch a few months ago. Due to other priorities / a lot of things going on, there were a decent amount of URLs that 404ed. We implemented a drupal module search404 to redirect all of these to the homepage or a search results page that pulls search terms from the 404 page. Our goal is to recoup SEO value since we saw a notable dip in domain authority and amount of links after launch. We know a catch-all automated solution like this isn't ideal because it's better to 301 each page to its most relevant live page. For example, if CNN.com links to our Texas location, it's better to 301 to our new texas page than a homepage or search page. The problem is that since we implemented this catch all search404 module, it seems like tools like Moz Pro and Screaming Frog are not picking up the backlinks from external sites that 404 since they were "fixed" by the search404 module. Any ideas on solutions? We're trying to avoid tedious or risky solutions like undoing the module, which may bring back the 404s but cause some UX and SEO issues so we can run a SF crawl. Or going through every link in our link profile manually to check.

    spam score

    Two years ago I bought domain name aroundtheworldwithme.com as a travel blog. I built the site up slowly and currently have a DA of 28 with decent Google search results. However, according to Moz my spam score is 43%. I am convinced that something funny is going on to give me this spam score. I have gone though all 27 factors that play into the spam score in great detail. I only fail a few of the checks. These are the Double Click Tag, LinkedIn profile, phone number, email, and Facebook Pixel. Which as far as I know, literally zero travel blog websites provide this info. So I am on par with evert other travel blog website. Now I know Moz will say this "doesn't mean your website is spam, just that our algorithm found that websites with similar attributes are spam." But this is completely bogus. All similar websites to mine have spam scores of 1-2%. All other websites I see with spam scores over 40% are literally spam websites. Why am I literally the only legitimate travel blog site that has a spam score over 40%? My backlink profile is similar to all other travel blogs. I actually have less spammy links as most, as I haven't been around too long. So I don't think my backlinks are causing the high spam score. The only thing I can think of is that my domain name used to be owned by someone else. I have a lot of backlinks from a random blog website that were discovered in 2018, three years before I bought the domain. Is it possible that the domain used to be an actual spam site name and I am now being punished for that? If not, then I cannot think of anything that would cause my high spam score other than fundamental defects in the Moz spam score algorithm. Something is going on, and I'd love someone from Moz to actually be able to have a look at my website and tell me why I have such a high spam score. I know Google doesn't care about Moz's spam score (thankfully) but other websites don't want links from me due to my completely bogus spam score. Thanks everyone

Ahref showed me all the links after a few days, also in search console. However, in Moz it does not recognize more than 500 new domains that give me links. Because? It's been 3 months... What should I do?

    Hi there, I’m trying to understand the large discrepancy in number of links among websites. For instance, I am comparing landing pages among two different colleges. One college has over 7 million links, while the other has only 72,000 links. Meanwhile, these colleges are fairly comparable in terms of population and prestige. Could anyone help me understand why this metric is wide ranging, and how a college could have so many links? Specifically looking at total links, internal links, external links, and linking domains.

    Hello, After 2 months of starting a new service with a new domain name and a rather flat curve, I decided to invest in auditing tools. To my surprise, when analyzing links with 'Link Explorer', I got the following warning : "You entered the URL crapahute.com which redirects to www.krapahute.com. Click here to analyze www.krapahute.com instead."... So I understand I bought a domain name that was previously in use, 8 years ago. And logically, when they moved from crapahute.com to krapahute.com, the former site owners set a (probably 401) redirect between their former name and their new one. Probably that in the last 8 years they dropped crapahute.com since I was able to buy the domain name last year. I can't understand the warning I'm receiving. since I thought this redirect would become inactive when they dropped the domain name. On the contrary, if I analyze the backlinks to krapahute.com I can indeed see : crapahute.com [no anchor text] 3 2 0 --

I performed some nslookup and dig on my domain and their's just to find out that every thing seems to look normal. Meanwhile, if I type "crapahute" in Google (and most other search engines), my site arrives in 12th page (!), and if I type "crapahute.com", the site "krapahute.com" appears first. Recently my site DA has 14 after few days working on it Then I check my DA is 17 So now I'm confused that the DA update runs again or Now it working on dynamically.     Howdy folks, Every time we do an index update here at Moz, we get a tremendous number of questions about Domain Authority (DA) and Page Authority (PA) scores fluctuating. Typically, each index (which release approximately monthly), many billions of sites will see their scores go up, while others will go down. If your score has gone up or down, there are many potential influencing factors: You've earned relatively more or less links over the course of the last 30-90 days.
    Remember that, because Mozscape indices take 3-4 weeks to process, the data collected in an index is between ~21-90 days old. Even on the day of release, the newest link data you'll see was crawled ~21 days ago, and can go as far back as 90 days (the oldest crawlsets we include in processing). If you've done very recent link growth (or shrinkage) that won't be seen by our index until we've crawled and processed the next index. You've earned more links, but the highest authority sites have grown their link profile even more
    Since Domain and Page Authority are on a 100-page scale, the very top of that represents the most link-rich sites and pages, and nearly every index, it's harder and harder to get these high scores and sites, on average, that aren't growing their link profiles substantively will see PA/DA drops. This is because of the scaling process - if Facebook.com (currently with a DA of 100) grows its link profile massively, that becomes the new DA 100, and it will be harder for other sites that aren't growing quality links as fast to get from 99 to 100 or even from 89 to 90. This is true across the scale of DA/PA, and makes it critical to measure a site's DA and a page's PA against the competition, not just trended against itself. You could earn loads of great links, and still see a DA drop due to these scaling types of features. Always compare against similar sites and pages to get the best sense of relative performance, since DA/PA are relative, not absolute scores. The links you've earned are from places that we haven't seen correlate well with higher Google rankings
    PA/DA are created using a machine-learning algorithm whose training set is search results in Google. Over time, as Google gets pickier about which types of links it counts, and as Mozscape picks up on those changes, PA/DA scores will change to reflect it. Thus, lots of low quality links or links from domains that don't seem to influence Google's rankings are likely to not have a positive effect on PA/DA. On the flip side, you could do no link growth whatsoever and see rising PA/DA scores if the links from the sites/pages you already have appear to be growing in importance in influencing Google's rankings. We've done a better or worse job crawling sites/pages that have links to you (or don't)
    Moz is constantly working to improve the shape of our index - choosing which pages to crawl and which to ignore. Our goal is to build the most "Google-shaped" index we can, representative of what Google keeps in their main index and counts as valuable/important links that influence rankings. We make tweaks aimed at this goal each index cycle, but not always perfectly (you can see that in 2015, we crawled a ton more domains, but found that many of those were, in fact, low quality and not valuable, thus we stopped). Moz's crawlers can crawl the web extremely fast and efficiently, but our processing time prevents us from building as large an index as we'd like and as large as our competitors (you will see more links represented in both Ahrefs and Majestic, two competitors to Mozscape that I recommend). Moz calculates valuable metrics that these others do not (like PA/DA, MozRank, MozTrust, Spam Score, etc), but these metrics require hundreds of hours of processing and that time scales linearly with the size of the index, which means we have to stay smaller in order to calculate them. Long term, we are building a new indexing system that can process in real time and scale much larger, but this is a massive undertaking and is still a long time away. In the meantime, as our crawl shape changes to imitate Google, we may miss links that point to a site or page, and/or overindex a section of the web that points to sites/pages, causing fluctuations in link metrics. If you'd like to insure that a URL will be crawled, you can visit that page with the Mozbar or search for it in OSE, and during the next index cycle (or, possibly 2 index cycles depending on where we are in the process), we'll crawl that page and include it. We've found this does not bias our index since these requests represent tiny fractions of a percent of the overall index (<0.1% in total). My strongest suggestion if you ever have the concern/question "Why did my PA/DA drop?!" is to always compare against a set of competing sites/pages. If most of your competitors fell as well, it's more likely related to relative scaling or crawl biasing issues, not to anything you've done. Remember that DA/PA are relative metrics, not absolute! That means you can be improving links and rankings and STILL see a falling DA score, but, due to how DA is scaled, the score in aggregate may be better predictive of Google's rankings. You can also pay attention to our coverage of Google metrics, which we report with each index, and to our correlations with rankings metrics. If these fall, it means Mozscape has gotten less Google-shaped and less representative of what influences rankings. If they rise, it means Mozscape has gotten better. Obviously, our goal is to consistently improve, but we can't be sure that every variation we attempt will have universally positive impacts until we measure them.     Hi,
    There is a question in my website. When I'm searching the number of spam score of my site, it shows "--".
    In the official article it shows that the reason of "--" happens is that our site has not been evaluated by Moz. But there aren't any ways of solutions, seems that we can only wait - not knowing how long - for being evaluated.
    Is there any way that I can get my site evaluated by Moz, and the spam score of my website can be displayed as an exact number?

    Hi, I have launch a new website, lorraine on october of 2021 and I have added it to a bunch a local and national directories to improme it local rankings. But when I get the domain authority and link data from MOZ it has only ten links and no one of them is from local/national directories. I have three questions: Do you know if it is normal that after 9 months DA is 1? Is there any problem with local/national directory links? I dont like buy links like others do but it seems the only way to improve domain authority and rankings.
